Quite some time has passed since my last post, and for that I apologize.
It turns out it’s been a BIT of a challenge to balance work/family/hobbies/website.
It’s funny, but back in the day I used to LOVE sleep. I would look forward to just laying in bed all morning, taking my sweet time waking up…starting the day on my own terms.
But then, you know…kids happened.
Bless their baby souls.
I now see sleep in a different light, from something I used to enjoy, to a CHORE.
It’s no longer, “I can work on my website all night because I can wake up whenever I want!”
Now it’s, “Yikes…it’s already 11 and the kids will be up at 6 am.”
So forced! Oh well, caffiene is my friend and babies are actually pretty worth it.
ONTO THE MATTER AT HAND
The matter at hand is this lovely minimalist marquise diamond ring. This was a complete redesign.
Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of the original ring, but it was a big clunky yellow gold ring with the marquise diamond set up in tall prongs. In other words it was a bit dated. My wonderful customer had the idea to set the diamond on it’s side and she wanted a very thin band. I believe the final thickness was somewhere around 1.25 mm.
The diamond was set into a bezel, which, if you haven’t heard, I love bezels.
Making this ring was a joy to me because it is a minimalist take on jewelry. Yes, IMHO, it is possible to be minimalist and have a diamond. The end result was something that says modern and classy.
