LEARN MORE ABOUT MODERN GOLDSMITH.
Hi, I’m Jordan. Thanks for being here! One of the most common questions I get asked is how I got into this trade…
I first started down the road to becoming a goldsmith way back in 2001. It was my first job, and I trained as a jewelry polisher. Looking back I realize I was pretty lucky to have that as my part-time “after-school” employment. Spending time in a jewelry workshop made me realize just how much I enjoyed the aspect of being creative and working with my hands.
Over the years I was able to grow in skill and knowledge, and had the privilege of training under three master jewelers. I worked full-time as an apprentice until I had the skills necessary to go out on my own. I started my own business in 2012, and have found much joy in creating custom jewelry for people all over the world.
Personal stuff: Born in 1985, married, and father of three young children. Four colleges but no formal degree. Often question life’s decisions, but always feels #blessed. Raised in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys tinkering with music.
Modern Goldsmith is currently based in Petaluma, California.

We don’t send out emails very often, but when we do it’s usually some sort of exciting development.
Some years ago we made the conscience decision to no longer sell or use mined diamonds in our jewelry. Instead, we are proudly focused on creating with lab-grown diamonds, moissanite, and other conflict-free diamond alternatives.
As of right now we are not hiring, but hope to do so in the future.
It is a long term goal to have a shop full of jewelers, designers, and apprentices. How fun that would be.
